Post-bariatric surgery is a body shaping operation performed to remove excess, sagging and deformation in the body caused by excessive weight loss after bariatric operations (tube stomach, gastric bypass…).
With these surgeries, sagging skin and fat tissues formed after weight loss is removed. This way, you will have a tighter and more pleasant-looking body.

– First of all, you should clearly explain your aesthetic concerns and expectations from this surgery. Consulting with your doctor about your expectations and wishes regarding this surgery will increase your satisfaction afterwards.
– If you have regular medications, consult your doctor.
– If you smoke, you must quit at least 10 days before surgery. Because smoking makes it difficult to heal postoperative tissues and stitch scars.
– If you are taking medications such as blood thinners and aspirin, consult your doctor. You will be asked not to use these medications for a while.
You may need to have more than one surgery after obesity surgeries.
Operations are performed under general anesthesia and take approximately 2-4 hours depending on the operation to be performed. You need to stay in the hospital for 1-2 nights after the operation. In operations, the incision sites are usually made from places that will not be visible after recovery. The important thing here is the surgical method to be applied and the amount of excess skin to be removed. These surgeries can be performed in one go or gradually. A good surgical plan is needed.
Recovery Period After Post Bariatric Surgery
– After the operation, a drain may be inserted into the area and the 2nd – 4th. the day is taken out.
– Postoperative 1-2 weeks of rest may be recommended. Then, by consulting your doctor, you can go back to work and continue your normal life as long as the working conditions are not severe.
– There may be swelling and bruising after surgery. These are temporary and should not be feared.
– A special compression garment will be worn for you after the operation. Corset prevents edema.
– It is important to keep the area clean and dry after the surgery.
– You should use the medications given by your doctor regularly.
– Especially in the first week, you should avoid strenuous movements and heavy lifting.
– You should not smoke as it affects wound healing negatively.
