Breast Lift Surgery:
It is the operation to remove the deformed skin and reshape the breast tissue. After this operation, upright and plump breasts are obtained. In this operation, if necessary, the nipple can be reduced for an ideal appearance.
– If you are physically healthy
– If you have a stable weight
– If your weight-loss period is complete after bariatric surgery
– If your breast is looking downwards
– If there is sagging in your breast
– If its shape and volume has changed
– If your breast seems longer than it should be
– If there is an asymmetry in your breast
Then, you are a good candidate for this operation.
Who is NOT A Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation Surgery?
– It is not applied alone in patients who want a significant change in breast size after breast lift surgery.
– It is not recommended as a single surgery for patients who want bigger and fuller breasts after a breast lift. (Breast lift surgery should be performed together with augmentation surgery. It is often two operations performed at once.)
– If you want smaller breasts, breast lift surgery should be performed together with augmentation surgery.
– First of all, you should clearly explain your aesthetic concerns and expectations from this surgery. Consulting with your doctor about your expectations and wishes regarding this surgery will increase your satisfaction afterwards.
– Before the operation, breast ultrasound and mammography are performed and your breast structure is evaluated by your doctor.
– If you have regular medications, consult your doctor.
– If you smoke, you must quit at least 10 days before surgery. Because smoking makes it difficult to heal postoperative tissues and stitch scars.
– If you are taking medications such as blood thinners and aspirin, consult your doctor. You will be asked not to use these medications for a while.
Breast lift operation is an operation performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 1.5 – 2.5 hours. You need to stay in the hospital for 1 night after the operation.
There are 3 most commonly used incisions and heads:
-From the Nipple Circumference (Periareolar):
It is preferred if the amount of sagging in the breast is low.
– Vertical scar:
Continuation of the nipple and breaks to the nipple fold is made with a vertical incision. It is preferred if the amount of sagging in the breast is medium.
-Inverted T:
It is preferred in breasts with severe sagging, it is easier to give the desired shape in this method.
After the incisions are made;
-The breast is shaped and hung.
– The nipple is brought to the height it should be.
-If there is a growth or collapse in the nipple, it was corrected.
-The excess in the skin is removed to compensate for the loss of elasticity.
– After the breast is shaped, the incisions are closed.
How is the Appropriate Method Decided in Breast Lift Surgery?
Different techniques and incisions can be used in breast lift surgery.
The following should be evaluated with the surgeon:
– Breast size and shape
– The size and location of the nipple
– The amount of sagging in the breast
– Skin texture, thickness and elasticity
– Post-operative 5-7 days rest is recommended. Then, by consulting your doctor, you can go to work and continue your normal life as long as the working conditions are not severe.
– A special bra will be worn for you after the operation. The type of bra that you should prefer for a certain period is sports bras. You can start wearing normal bras after about 2 months.
– It is important to keep your breast clean and dry after the surgery.
– You should use the medications given by your doctor regularly and apply your dressing as the doctor will be shown to you after the operation.
– Especially in the first week, you should avoid strenuous movements and heavy lifting.
– You should not smoke as it affects wound healing negatively.
– You should not sleep face down for two months and you should not be hit to your chest.
– You can take a shower after the 4th day, swim after the 2nd month, and do sports after the 3rd month.
Postoperative Recovery Period
Breast lift is a surgical operation performed with an incision. In the early postoperative period, there may be swelling and bruising in the breast. These are temporary and disappear in 2-5 weeks. However, it takes 6 months to 1 year for the breast to take its final form. Use the medication prescribed by your doctor. After a while, the scars will turn pink and begin to melt and disappear. However, there is a possibility of a slight scar in breast lift surgeries. After the operation, there may be sensation changes in the breast, do not worry, this is a temporary period, your feelings will return to normal after recovery.
Since the milk gland and milk ducts will be preserved during the surgery, you will not have any problem in breastfeeding.
